Volunteer
Join the team of classmates making our reunion happen! Consider giving your time to help ensure that we have a memorable celebration. You can motivate classmates to attend as a member of the program committee or help classmates to give to Harvard on the gift committee. Both volunteer committees are crucial to our successful reunion. You can also volunteer during the Reunion by meeting with students to share your experiences. Please see below for more details on this.
To join the program committee, please contact the Harvard Alumni Association.
To join the gift committee, please contact our Harvard College Fund Class Officer.
Harvard / Radcliffe ’78 40th Reunion Event – Careers and Lives – a 40-year bridge – Sign up by September 8!
Few of us knew what we wanted to be after graduation, and most of us have seen our paths evolve - sometimes dramatically. Today’s college students design their curricula in ways we could not imagine. New careers and opportunities have emerged under our watch, and many undergraduates seek ways to focus, succeed, and live happily.
During our 30th reunion, over 40 HR78 classmates volunteered to speak to undergrads about careers, useful skills to acquire, important issues (e.g. life / work balance), and what questions to ask. At that time, about 50 undergraduates gave up Columbus Day weekend for our lively discussion. The event, much lauded, has remained unique to us: the Fabulous 78’ers. Let us keep up our good work, do what our Class does well and help build bridges for current students to their future. This is NOT a job fair, this is a chance to answer real, often tough questions from undergraduates eager to make their way and impact.
The event is Saturday 13 October starting at 1:45 PM. We ask you to volunteer to
- write a 100-word bio, which students can read to help them seek you out (by Sept 8);
- provide a head-shot photo to go with the mini-bio (by Sept 8).
- meet and speak to students in total candor and in an informal, no-pressure setting about your career, your life choices, what worked / you might have done differently, and what has changed during your career (on Oct 13).
Write-ups should go to nerminkahmad@gmail.com and pskoch56@icloud.com by September 8th. We will again create a virtual booklet for OCS to distribute to current undergraduates and encourage them to sign up to talk with you!
